On July 7, 2019, Almetyevsk hosted the premiere screening of the first documentary film dedicated to the study of Russian street art and graffiti – «In the Open».
The film was directed by Nikita Nomerz, a street artist from Nizhny Novgorod. The artist's work can be seen in Yekaterinburg, Novosibirsk, Perm, Irkutsk and Krasnoyarsk. In addition, Nikita Nomerz is the creator of «Mesto», a street art research project in Nizhny Novgorod, and «Tochka», which is a curatorial statement and exhibition of street art in urban space.
The documentary film «In the Open» opens the door to the «behind the scenes» of street art and tells about street artists and graffiti writers from all over Russia. Dozens of recorded interviews provide answers to many questions not only for the viewer, but also for the authors themselves. More than 60 artists took part in the project, thus the film reflects the current state of street art and shows the variety of styles, techniques, directions and views. It allows the viewer to learn how the preparation and creation of street objects, the work in the workshops, participation in exhibitions and festival projects take place.
